Knoxville Business Community Connect -- Personal & Professional Well-Being

It’s time to get back together as a business community but this time, we are doing it virtually!

We are launching Knoxville Business Community Connect, a hybrid between the Lunch & Learns and Let’s Meet for Koffee events we have done in the past. We hope that these programs are not done for good, but for now we are adapting.

Each month, you are invited to join us for a digital gathering focused on different topics. You will be able to ask questions and discuss with an expert panel, while also networking with your fellow business community.

June’s topic is Personal & Professional Well-Being.

2020 has been a year of overcoming obstacles. The drastic changes being made to business as we know it, and the need to constantly adapt, can take a strain on your mental and physical health. It is important to make sure you are taking care of yourself so you can be the leader your organization needs. You also need to let yourself take breaks and enjoy some time away from work.

Join our panel of experts on June 30 from noon-1pm on Zoom for discussion and bring any questions you may have. The session will be recorded to view at a later date. Zoom information will be sent to you in your confirmation and reminder emails.

Ask the Panel
Submit your questions beforehand with the option to stay anonymous. You will also have the chance to submit questions in the Zoom chat during the event. Submit your questions here.

Meet our Panel:

Chris Gordon

Chris Gordon is the owner of KNX Fitness, where he helps people build healthy habits through nutrition, mindset, and fitness training. Chris holds an MS in Psychology, as well as several fitness and nutrition coaching certifications. He focuses on helping people by providing education and coaching on health and wellness.

Chris knows that because of recent circumstances, business owners, managers and employees were facing what seemed like an insurmountable situation during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. He believes that a lack of focus on health and well-being likely compounded the issue, which is why he thinks it is important for business owners and managers to focus on well-being and mental health during this time.

Cheryl Garland

Cheryl Garland is the owner, Co-Clinical Director, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Registered Play Therapist Supervisor at Integrative Counseling Solutions. Integrative Counseling Solutions has served Marion County for over 11 years with an interdisciplinary team of licensed therapists to assist with outpatient mental health services.

Cheryl has devoted her career to breaking down barriers for Iowans receiving mental health services in both rural and suburban areas. She knows that leaders of Knoxville businesses and organizations serve as role models for staff. That is why she believes that as a leader, it is important to take care of yourself, because if you are not able to do so, your staff will model after that and your organization will not be at its best.

Rhonda Thompson

Rhonda Thompson is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and the owner Rhonda J. Thompson, LISW, LLC, a private practice she opened in 2014. Rhonda’s practice provides individuals, couples, and families with mental health therapy. Her focus is to serve the Knoxville community to enrich citizens’ well-being and emotional health.

Rhonda understands that life is difficult and challenges everyone to find a balance between self-care, client care, business care and community care each and every day. That is why she thinks it is important for business owners & managers to focus on their well-being and mental health during this time.
