    The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce & Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Marion County are partnering together to bring you Social Media Marketing 101.

    This 3-part, hands-on training for small businesses, non-profits and government agencies will focus on the importance of social media in reaching and engaging a target audience.

    Utilizing Facebook for Business as a model, attendees will learn some of the quick, easyand inexpensive ways to amplify messaging and build an online following.

    Participants will:

    • Learn some tips of the trade when it comes to Facebook advertising.
    • Create and/or optimize a Facebook Business page as well as learn how to promote pages, posts, and events.
    • Learn how to analyze the effectiveness of a promotion.

    Training will take place over three consecutive weeks from 8-9 a.m. All sessions will be held at the Marion County Extension Office (210 N Iowa St, Knoxville). Sessions dates are:

    • Tuesday, October 19
    • Tuesday, October 26
    • Tuesday, November 2

    The training is free to attend, but pre-registration is required. Registrants will need to bring a laptop for the second and third sessions.

    • The Coffee Connection

    Let’s Meet for Koffee is an opportunity for local business owners and managers to get together monthly in an informal setting to discuss, share, and simply know that they are not alone in their business journey.

    Hosted by the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, the group will meet at The Coffee Connection in downtown Knoxville from 8:30-10:00 am on the first Thursday of the month. Feel free to come and go as you please.

    The Connecting For Women event is a program in collaboration with the Greater Des Moines Partnership to bring together women for a networking, coaching and mentoring session from the region’s most influential business leaders. This event is hosted by Eastern Affiliates Grinnell Area Chamber of CommerceKnoxville Chamber of Commerce & Newton Chamber of Commerce .

    We're excited to meet in-person for our fall event! The evening activities will be held at Baqara Coliseum in Newton. Cash bar available, as well as hors d'oeuvres from Pitchfork Primitives & Fodder. Although we'd love to see you in-person, we understand that some people feel more comfortable attending events virtually. We will also have a virtual option available for this event.

    Keirstin, Poppi Branding Co

    Keirstin is the owner of Poppi Branding Co., a branding studio helping turn business owners’ jumble of stories and ideas into a clear, confident brand they feel good in. Participants will learn where to start when building their brand and how to communicate why they're different more effectively. Learn the framework that will help build deeper relationships and confidently share what they do. 

    Date: Wednesday, November 10 from 4PM - 6PM

    Location: Baqara Coliseum in Newton (1611 1st Ave W)

    A virtual option is also available for attendees who are unable to join us in person.


    Advance registration is required. Interested attendees can register through their Chamber of Commerce. In-person cost is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-Chamber members. Virtual cost is $5 for Chamber members & $10 for non-members. Limited space available.

    This event is designed for women to find inspiration and guidance on their careers and is open to anyone in the Greater Des Moines metro and rural area who would like to network and further their professional development.

    A man-made blizzard of epic proportion!

    During the 2021 Living Windows: A Storybook Christmas on Thursday, November 18, the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Snowball Drop for the second year.

    What is a snowball drop, you ask? Think hundreds of ping pong balls falling to the ground. Each ball will have a number that corresponds to a local business that will be providing deals starting on Small Business Saturday (Saturday, November 27). Deals will be redeemable throughout the holiday shopping season

    All snowballs will be dropped in downtown by Santa Claus at 5:30 pm. Only people 21+ can collect up to 3 snowballs.
